Department of Natural Resources and Mines service centres
you are a private client, some Department of Natural Resources & Mines (DNR & M) service centres are able to accept certain types of documents for duty assessments.
To see if you can use the DNR & M service centres please complete the following checklist:
- Are the documents either:
- Release of Mortgage Form 3 - if duty accounted for on all advances?
- Contract of Sale with Transfer Form 1?
- Contract of Sale only?
- Are you a private client?
- Is the transaction a simple transfer of a house and/or land?
- Is the transaction between unrelated or unassociated parties?
- Is the document dated less than 30 days ago?
- Is your cash payment less than $500, or if not, are you paying by bank cheque or EFTPOS?
If you answer NO to any one of these questions, the DNR & M service centres will NOT be able to take duty on your documents. You will need to send them to the closest Office of State Revenue service centre.
The following are some examples of documents which CANNOT be accepted by participating DNR & M service centres:
- Transfer by Direction
- Transfer for natural love and affection
- Transfer between Related* or Associated** Parties
- Transfer to resolve tenancy
- Transfer by a third party
- Transfer of a business
- Transfer of a Lease, Mortgage or other Encumbrance
- Transfer pursuant to a Family Court Order
- Transfer pursuant to a will
- Transfer to a Trustee
* related means by blood or marriage
** associated means by partnership, company or tenancy
