The First HomeOwner Grant was introduced to help offset the impact of the goods and services tax (GST) when buying or building your first home. Up to $7,000 is payable to eligible first home buyers. There is no means test involved and there is no limit to the amount paid for a property.
Is the Grant only for people who are building a home?
No. The Grant is also available for the purchase of an existing home.

Is the Grant increasing?
No. Up to $7,000 is payable to eligible first home buyers. Any change to the Grant would require the agreement of the Commonwealth and all of the states and territories. To date, there has been no change proposed to the amount of the Grant.
Are there any additional grants ?
There are currently no additional grants available.
Does the home need to be situated in Queensland?
Each State and Territory throughout Australia is responsible for administering the Grant.
If you are purchasing or building your first home outside of Queensland, you must complete an application form for the State or Territory Revenue Office in which the home is or will be located.
