What types of homes qualify for the First Home Owner Grant?
The home must be a fixed building, located in Queensland and is suitable for use as a place of residence.
This may include new or existing dwellings, such as a house, flat, unit, townhouse or manufactured homes. Houseboats and caravans are not eligible.
Is the Grant available on the purchase of a vacant block of land?
No. The Grant is only available for the purchase of an established home, a contract to build, and if you are an owner builder.
May I build a home on land owned by a third party?
The First HomeOwner Grant Regulation 2000 enables a person to build a home on land that is part of land owned by a relative and still be eligible for the Grant.
This must be a separate and detached dwelling to dwellings existing on the land. The dwelling may be constructed by entering into a comprehensive building contract.
