Off-road diesel users
Eligibility changes from 1 July 2006
Effective from 1 June 2006, the definition of diesel engine road vehicle has changed from vehicle design and use to vehicle registration type and use.
To be eligible for the Subsidy, a vehicle must meet the standard regulations for registration under the Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995 and travel on a public road. Equipment type vehicles that were previously not eligible for the Subsidy due to their design will now be eligible for the Subsidy on diesel used to travel on a public road.
For example:
- Diesel used by a concrete pumping truck while travelling on a public road would be eligible for the Subsidy. Diesel used by the truck while pumping concrete or for associated purposes (e.g. cleaning equipment) would not be eligible for the Subsidy, as the diesel is being used for an off-road purpose.
Diesel used by a vehicle for an off-road purpose, or diesel used in a vehicle that is conditionally registered, or of a kind that would be eligible for conditional registration in Queensland, is not eligible for the Subsidy.
For example:
- Diesel used by a drilling rig or mobile crane while travelling on a public road would be eligible for the Subsidy. However, the diesel used while the vehicle is operating at a building site would not be eligible for the Subsidy.
