The regional first home owner grant applied to contracts entered into between 1 June 2010 and 30 June 2011.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible for the $4,000 regional bonus, all the following had to apply:
- You must have been eligible for the $7,000 first home owner grant.
- You must have either built or bought a new home—the bonus did not apply to established homes.
- The home must have been located in a Queensland regional area (see map of eligible areas).
- The commencement date (i.e. the contract date or, for owner-builders, the date the foundations are laid) must have been between 1 June 2010 and 30 June 2011 (inclusive). However, there was no set time that building had to be completed.
What is a new home?
A new home is a home that has never been sold before or occupied by another person. This includes:
- contracts to build a home
- homes bought 'off the plan'
- homes built by an owner-builder
- display homes.
A substantially renovated home may qualify as a new home if it has not, since being substantially renovated, been occupied or sold as a place of residence. Substantial renovations of a building are renovations in which all, or substantially all, of a building is removed or replaced.
Generally, if you pay GST on the purchase of your home, it will be considered to be a 'new home'.
Note: We may ask for more information if your home is a substantially renovated home.
Applying for the RFHOG
How do I apply?
To apply for the RFHOG, you only need to complete the existing first home owner grant application (PDF 750 K).
If your first home is located in a regional area, we will automatically include the bonus when paying the grant.
Note: If you live in South-East Queensland, and your local government is not listed below, you may still be eligible for the RFHOG. You must provide a rates notice or another document which clearly shows that your home is located in an eligible area before the RFHOG will be paid.
How is the grant paid?
You will receive a single payment of $11,000. This will include the $7,000 base grant as well as the $4,000 regional bonus.
The payment will be deposited directly into the account you specified in your first home owner grant application.
