Background information

Transfer duty is charged on the transfer of dutiable property in Queensland. Assessed transactions must be submitted to OSR.

This course shows you how to open a saved draft transaction, and then submit the completed transaction statement using OSRconnect.

What has changed?

In Duties Online, transfer duty transactions were entered into a set of screens. The transaction was then collated into a weekly return and submitted to OSR.

In OSRconnect, transfer duty transactions are entered into an interactive form. Interactive forms are structured logically from top to bottom, you do not have to tab through multiple screens to complete a transaction. Transactions are now submitted on an individual basis (there are no more weekly returns).

One advantage of submitting transactions individually is that the confirmation notice for each transaction can be provided to your client (usually the transferee) for them to pay us directly for the total liability. Another advantage is that you can submit transactions as they arise—transactions are no longer collated for a weekly period and lodged in one bulk submission.

OSRconnect also provides a direct debit function—using this function means you can pay the transaction liability either at the time of lodging to OSR, or at a later date.
