Debits tax

The Debits Tax Repeal Act 2005 abolished debits tax in Queensland on 1 July 2005 onwards. However, debits tax liabilities in relation to debits made before 1 July 2005 will continue to be payable. Similarly, collection rights in relation to those debits remain enforceable.

The Debits Tax Act 1990 will therefore continue to apply even after its repeal to allow for the winding up of outstanding matters relating to debits made before 1 July 2005.
